Using Crazy Egg to Improve the Customer Experience on Your eCommerce Website

One of the most important things for any business is to make sure that you are providing a good customer experience. If you run a shop and the staff are impolite, customers probably won't come back. If you run a website, meanwhile, the things you need to ensure are that your website appears trustworthy and that everything is simple and easy to navigate. Without these things, potential customers are likely to visit and never return. So what can you do to make sure you're meeting these requirements?

Crazy Egg is a paid service which you can use to help you understand how customers are engaging with your website which, in turn, helps you to understand the ways in which you can further enhance the customer experience. What it does is provide you with numerous graphics which show you what customers do when they get to your site; one of these graphics give you an image of your homepage with multi-coloured dots all over it. These dots are the places that customers click when they are on your homepage and the different colours indicate the frequency in which they were clicked. This is great, because if you had something on your homepage which you really wanted people to click on, you'd now be able to see whether or not they are doing so. If you're on social media, which you should be since it creates an ongoing connection between your business and your customers, then you should also have social media buttons on your homepage. If you can see that nobody is clicking through to see your social media feeds then that means that you need to be doing more to draw people's attention to them. This is just one of many ways that that graphic would be helpful.

Another thing that Crazy Egg provides is a graphic which shows you how far down customers are scrolling when they get to your homepage. If you then realised, for example, that barely anybody ever scrolled down far enough to see your daily special offers, then perhaps it would be a good idea to put them a little higher, or to include a "scroll down for special offers" line somewhere. Maybe you'd also find that people aren't scrolling down far enough to see your social media buttons, which, again, will give you a useful idea of how to rearrange your website to make it more efficient. I have only mentioned two of the services that Crazy Egg provides, but there are actually even more services which you'd be able to enjoy were you to sign up.

If you're still not sure whether or not you should spend money on Crazy Egg, why not let it speak for itself? Crazy Egg actually lets you have free trails, so it makes sense to give it a try! If it turns out not to be as helpful as you thought it might, what have you lost? It could just as easily turn out to be one of the most useful tools at your disposal.
