Are You Prepared For Christmas?

I know we're still in August and it is technically still summer time (despite the rain), but for a lot of businesses Christmas lasts from September to December. Of course, that might not be the case for you, but it would definitely be wise to make some preparations for the Christmas season. Many shops take on additional staff at this time of year (and, indeed, are likely to be advertising already) and it's something you might want to do too.

Obviously, it varies from business to business, but you stand to see a potentially huge increase in work and business over the next few months. Maybe you sell products which are very likely to be used for Christmas parties and dinners? Maybe your product makes the perfect present? People like to get all kinds of things for Christmas and if you get a steady flow of customers the rest of the time, you can be sure that you'll get even more in the months approaching Christmas. If you make the product yourself, you're going to have to produce even more, marketing will be even more important now and take up much more time, there'll be many more things to package and send off and so many small tasks which you might not have even considered but which will culminate in a lot of work.

So hiring some temporary Christmas staff could be a good idea. You may think that Christmas is a long way off, but is it really? Imagine you put up an advert for a new member of staff today. Let's say it takes a month for that position to be filled. Already, it's almost October. Let's say it takes another month for that person to be trained and to become comfortable in their position... By then it will be November. All of a sudden Christmas won't be so far off! So bare this in mind and start making your business plans for Christmas now; you stand to make a lot of money and it would be a shame to let the opportunity slip by due to being understaffed or not having a plan.
