Can You Really Go It Alone?

If you started up your own eCommerce business, you likely did so alone. That's not to be presumptuous; many start businesses in small groups, but it is certainly not uncommon for people to use RomanCart and get their eCommerce business going alone. This is pretty reasonable; these things sometimes start as a hobby or as something which people do alone. But, what you need to ask yourself is whether or not you will be able to keep it going all by yourself.

While being a single person operation might be good for people with businesses of a certain size, the more you begin to grow the harder it will be for you to handle things by yourself. For one thing, the likes of social media marketing and content marketing can be tasks which, if done effectively, can take up an enormous amount of time. That's not to mention that as you start to get more customers you'll have more calls coming in, more emails to reply to and more orders to send off. The fact is that you're eventually going to need help.

Sure, you may worry about the cost of hiring another employee, but you'll more than make it back when your business continues to run more efficiently. Now there'll be more time for marketing, which will bring new people in and, also, a new person on the team will bring new ideas; maybe they'll suggest a change to the site layout, maybe they'll come up with a new product you can sell, maybe they'll come up with something else entirely and maybe you won't like their ideas; but it's your business so you don't have to listen anyway!

So I think it is important to remember that if you want your business to continue to grow, you will eventually have to hire new staff. I know it might be hard; you started this project all by yourself and you might not be keen to open the doors to other people, but once you do you're likely to realise how much of a benefit it was.
