Sharing Content on Facebook

Much like Google, Facebook has a complex algorithm which you need to work around if you want people to be able to find you. If you have a business page on Facebook, then there will be many artificial constraints on you which will stop your posts from reaching as many people as possible. The reason this is done, is to persuade people to pay for Facebook's post boosting service, which will help you to reach a lot of people if you can afford it. However, if you're not too keen on paying Facebook, then there's something you can do to ensure that you reach a higher number of people.


 

For reasons that are not quite clear, Facebook seems to reward you for sharing posts from other pages. It could be that they are very keen on the "social" side of social media or it could be something else, but if you share a video or an image from another Facebook page, you will find that that post will reach a lot more people than any you just share by yourself. Let me be clear, you need to share the content properly: if you click "share" underneath a post on another page, that is the correct way of doing it: don't just upload work by somebody else! But the good news is that when you do this you have the opportunity to say a few words of your own above the post you've shared. This means that you can include a link back to your site and hopefully experience an increase in click throughs along with the increase in reach! Though the only thing is that you will need to think of a way for your link to feel natural, otherwise there's no way people are going to click on it if it doesn't have anything to do with the main post that you have shared.


 

I hope this little trick will come in handy the next time you're doing a little bit of Facebook marketing. The algorithm can sometimes be tough to get around and little things like this can help to make a real difference.
