Your Work-Life Balance

This person had a poor work-life balance.

As the owner of a business, especially if you're running a single person operation, it's possible that you might allow your work to become your whole life. In today's blog post I'd like to take the time to talk about maintaining a good work-life balance - this is something which is not only important to your health, but also important to the health of your business and something which all business owners should be conscious of.

What is your working arrangement for managing your eCommerce website? Do you do it on the side of a day job? Is it your sole source of income? If you do have a day job, you need to be completely sure that you've still got plenty of time to sit back and relax. People who run a business alongside a full time job often suffer from lots of stress-related issues and if you're feeling very stressed, you're not likely to be as productive as you could be otherwise. But even if running your eCommerce website is your only job, you still need to make sure that you're not pushing yourself too hard and that you have plenty of time to unwind without thinking about work.

If you've got employees working for you, you need to think to yourself that if you wouldn't push them to certain extremes, you mustn't push yourself that far either. At the time it may seem like it will be the best way to keep your business running smoothly and keep that money coming in, but if you succumb to a stress related illness because you've pushed yourself too hard, this is going to equate to a much larger loss for your business, not to mention yourself! So always be conscious of your limits and never expect too much from yourself - keep this in mind and you'll be a happier person who can do a better job of managing their business.
