Local Newspaper Promotion

For your eCommerce website to become a success you're going to need as many endorsements as possible. You want to try and raise your brand awareness so that lots and lots of people will have heard of you. You know what would be a good way to get your website just a little better known? An article in the local newspaper. In today's blog post I would like to go over some of the things you can do to get yourself in the local newspaper.

If your business is doing quite well, but you live in a very small area, then your business is going to be pretty big news. There probably aren't too many businesses based in small towns or villages (especially not eCommerce businesses) and so if that sounds like your sort of situation it might be quite newsworthy. But that's not always going to be a good approach and it won't always work. Something else you might like to try doing a little bit of local fundraising - this is the kind of thing that would definitely get into a local newspaper because it is good for the community. You could also try contacting them when you reach a specific milestone, as that's the kind of thing you can easily make a story around.

When you do contact the newspapers, you always need to be sure to pitch the story to them and never just ask them for an article. If possible, it would be a good idea to include photographs (for example, of your business at fundraisers) as newspapers will need photos. Just generally be professional and try not to come across as too self-interested. Getting yourself into the printed newspaper is a good way to raise awareness in the local community and getting yourself an article on their website will probably get you a link, which will be good for SEO. So I hope that gives you a good idea of a way that you can market your business on a local level. However you decide to promote your business, I hope you will find success!
