You need lots of links to your site.

When running an eCommerce website, you want to be coming up at the top of as many search results as possible - when you're a new business, coming up in search results could be a really fantastic way for you to reach new people. But getting yourself to the top of search results is difficult: not only do you need to have a high quality website, but you also need to have a nice set of links leading back to your site. In today's blog post I am going to give you a list of some of the easiest to obtain links back to your site:

  • Directories: There are a huge number of online directories online and getting yourself listed in a select few, high quality directories could be a very good idea.

  • Profile Links: Add a link to your site in the bio of every site you're a member of. You could even sign up to a few sites for the sole purpose of doing this!

  • Forum Posts: If you're a well known member of a forum, you could use that platform to share a link to your site. If people know and like you there, they would likely be interested in seeing it anyway. You might like to try joining a few forums and making some worthwhile contributions before adding more links of your own.

  • Classified Ads: There are loads of websites out there designed for listing classified adverts - this could be the perfect place to promote your site!

  • Comments: This can often seem especially spammy, so you have to be careful, but if a link to your website would ever be valid in the comment section of an article or blog post, then go ahead and post it!

There may be other links which are easy obtain too, but these five are things which anybody can do. Obviously things like articles about you on other sites are going to carry much more value, but all of these things carry value - a link is a link. I hope that gives you a good idea of some of the SEO techniques you can follow in order to help improve the rankings of your eCommerce website.
