Ethical Link Building

When you run an eCommerce website, what you want is for loads of people to be able to find you and the best way you can do that is by having good SEO. You can have good SEO by having meaningful, well-written content on your site, having good web design and by making strategic use of keywords, but another thing that's good for SEO and something which is a little out of your control, is having lots of links back to your site on other websites. Google (and let's face it, they're the one we're all thinking of) determine that if a site is a good one, then people will naturally link to them anyway... But sadly, this is not always the case because a site could be really, really good but lost away in some dank corner of the internet.

So what can you do to get more links to your site? Well, you might be tempted, for example, to pay someone to just post links to your website in the comment sections of loads of pieces of content. That would get you lots of links very quickly. However, you mustn't do this as it is rather unethical: you'd be abusing these comment sections and not using them for their intended purpose. But I'm not just talking about morality here: Google will penalise you for this kind of behaviour and you'll soon find that your eCommerce website has been blacklisted. If you get blacklisted by Google, you're going to have a hard time getting people onto the site!

So, when you try to create links to your site, make sure you do it ethically. A good way to get more links to your site, is to create content for other people's websites: people will appreciate this as the content on their site will be good for them, since the more high quality content a site has, the better, and it will be good for you too because you'll be able to link back to your own site in the main body of text, or within an author tag. Things like this are ethical and good for the internet community and Google will reward you for it. I hope this has given you a good idea of how to do some ethical link building and how to improve the SEO of your eCommerce website.
