Free Image Manipulation Software - GIMP

When running an eCommerce website, one thing you're going to need for everything to look good and professional is some good image manipulation software. Things like logos, banners and images for social media are all going to need to be professionally worked on. Microsoft Paint just won't cut it for a lot of things. What everybody likes to use is Adobe Photoshop, because that's probably one of the most comprehensive packages; but because it's one of the most comprehensive packages, it's also one of the most expensive. Since small businesses often have a lot to spend money on and a smaller income, the last thing they're going to want is an expensive piece of image manipulation software to pay for on top of that.

If you do need some image manipulation software but can't afford it, then you might be interested to hear about GIMP. GIMP offers many of the same features as Photoshop, but it is completely free! Even if you're not really very good at graphic design, practice makes perfect and you could just have a bit of a play around with GIMP every now and then to help you build up your skill. Of course, something like a logo is needed as soon possible, but it shouldn't be too hard to put together something fairly basic - perhaps you could use a logo generator at first before later putting together something of your own? You could hire a graphic designer, but it would be a worthwhile skill to develop. For owners of eCommerce websites, having the ability to make your own graphics, banners and logos is an infinitely useful skill.

So if you did need something a little more useful for your graphic design work, I hope that GIMP will prove to be a useful suggestion. Having properly designed graphics on your site will do a lot towards making you look professional and you need to look professional if you expect people to buy something from you! If you don't look professional, how can people be sure that you can be trusted? But however you decide to present your business online, I hope that you'll be able to attract lots of people and make a healthy number of sales.
