Image Tagging in Social Media Marketing

On the internet there are three main types of content: text, images and videos. Obviously, there's quite a bit of overlap between those things and they will also be used in conjunction with one another quite often. Generally speaking, text is the thing which is least likely to be consumed, then images, and then videos. Take that with a grain of salt though, because people might not always be in a position where they are able to watch a whole video but they will always be able to read text and look at images.

Anyway, with images being as prevalent as they are on the internet, they are therefore extremely useful for marketers. If you can come up with excellent, striking photographs or nice pieces of graphic design then it stands to be of no small benefit to your social media marketing. Websites like Pinterest and Instagram are specifically based around the sharing of images and so, if you're going to use either of those for marketing purposes, you'll need to have a good supply of high quality images. But not only do you need some good images, but you also need to be good at image tagging.

Image tagging is something you can do to make sure that as many people as possible find these images and that those who do are the kinds of people who will be interested. With every image you upload, you can add certain tags; so, if you sold a t-shirt, several tags could be #summer #summerwear #tshirt #clothes #clothing #stylish and so on. Obviously, on an actual picture you'd be able to do even more and that's fair enough. You can also use these tags to tie into current affairs and other things that are trending on social media at the time; for example, it might be worth tagging #christmaspresent on things around the holiday season. So keep that in mind with your social media marketing. You want to reach as many people as possible and this is just one way of doing so
